Remember the feeling of walking into the lobby of a nice hotel, and being immediately impressed by the pristine condition of your surroundings? The floors gleam, the windows are spotless, and every piece of furniture is crisp and clean.
Wouldn’t you like your home to be equally clean and inviting? At Golden Shine we connect you with professional independent housekeepers that can do wonders for your home. Our housekeepers have a set of guidelines that they follow to ensure that their work consistently meets our quality standards, each and every time. We wanted to share some of our tricks of the trade with you, as we think they could help you in your own housekeeping efforts. So, without further ado, I give you our four tips for a spotless home:
1. Come prepared for the task at hand.
You’ve probably noticed that most professional housekeepers use carts stocked with all the cleaning supplies they need for a given job. Missing a specific product can seriously hinder your cleaning efforts, but hauling around a bunch of products you never use is no picnic either. Take stock of your cleaning supplies, and discard anything you don’t use, while making sure you’re not missing anything you need to get the job done.
2. Define your goals.
Let’s be honest here, cleaning a home can be a big job, and sometimes you can forget all the little things you need to get to. By putting together a list of goals, you’ll be less inclined to forget something while cleaning. Figure out which cleaning tasks need to be done every day, every week, or on a less frequent basis. Once your list is complete, you’ll spend less time thinking about what you have to do and have more time to do it.
3. Be strategic.
Always clean from top to bottom and left to right. You’ll save time if you don’t have to retrace your steps, and when you clean from the top down you avoid messing up any areas you already covered.
4. Work in teams.
Professional housekeepers often work in teams for a reason. Making a king-sized bed may only take a few minutes for a single person, but with two people it takes only seconds. Enlisting the help of family members will not only make the job go faster, but you’ll also keep each other motivated until the job is done.
