We recently published an article for the San Diego BBB on how to choose a great cleaning company. We think it’s a must read if you’re currently shopping around for a new housekeeping referral service, and we’ve included the full article below:
Let’s face it, not everyone is cut out for cleaning, and as a busy professional you tend to have better things to do with your time. Between all the pressing demands of both your work and personal life, who has time to clean the bathroom, or scrub out a fridge?
That’s usually the point where you decide to hire a maid service to do your cleaning for you. However, it’s not always easy to find a good, reliable cleaning agency to take care of your home and office cleaning needs, and choosing the right company makes all the difference. There are hundreds of cleaning agencies in San Diego, and finding the right one can be quite a challenge if you don’t know what to look for.
We’ve put together a list of some of the major factors to consider, in order to help you avoid any pitfalls and find the perfect cleaning agency.
1. Reviews matter.
Most reputable cleaning agencies will be listed on numerous review websites like bbb.org or kudzu.com. Reading reviews written about a business can also let you know what to expect, and give you great ideas for questions you can ask the business to help you better understand your options and what would work best for you.
2. Experience matters.
As is true in any other industry, experience matters, and getting experienced cleaners can make all the difference in the world. An experienced cleaner will know what products to use for each different surface, which will yield the best results. They will also know what NOT to use in your home (or office), and can avoid making costly and expensive mistakes that will cause you major headaches down the road. An experienced cleaner will also know the most efficient way to clean, and will have a method which will allow them to get the job done much more quickly, saving you both time and money.
Be sure to ask lots of questions when you call for a quote. An experienced cleaning agency will be able to easily answer any of your questions, and demonstrate that they know their stuff and can meet your needs.
3. Size matters.
It’s also important that you hire a cleaning agency with enough cleaners. If a company has too few cleaners, it can mean long delays as they struggle to fit your job into their schedule. A company with more cleaners will be better able to schedule a job when it works for you, as well as help accommodate you if you need to make any last-minute changes. By having more cleaners available, they will have the resources to better meet your needs in the case of any unforeseen circumstances.
4. Price matters.
Once you have found a cleaning agency that looks like a good fit for you, look online to see if they have any coupons available. Most cleaning agencies will have a newcomer’s discount, which will save you some money on your first cleaning (and who doesn’t like saving money?). Also, ask about repeat-cleaning rates if you’re interested in regular service. Most companies will offer you a discounted rate if you setup regular service with them, as your home will be easier to clean if it receives regular maintenance.
5. Trust matters.
Make sure your cleaning company conducts background checks on all of their workers. Knowing that your housekeeper has been carefully screened will give you peace of mind, and you will be much more comfortable letting them into your home or office. Also, we may be preaching to the choir here, but making sure a company is Accredited and has a great track record with the BBB is important. BBB Accreditation shows that the business is fully customer-centric and committed to your satisfaction.
