A good spring cleaning is the just the thing to chase away the winter blues and get your home ready for the long days of summer. One of the biggest things to tackle in a good spring cleaning is excess clutter. Getting rid of junk that just takes up space will make it much easier for you to begin the work of deep cleaning.
Sometimes just knowing how to begin can be a challenge in itself. Here are a few tips to help get you started:
1. Don’t try and tackle your home all at once, you’ll only end up in a bigger mess than you began with. Start with one room at a time and systematically move through your entire house.
2. Find 3 boxes or containers and label them with 3 categories; “trash”, “give away/sell”, “storage”. This will help you to sort everything efficiently.
3. Don’t forget to go through kitchen and bathroom cupboards, closets, broom closets and under beds.
4. Determine that you will get rid of junk, and ignore those “well maybe I may use it someday” feelings. Once you put it in the “trash” or “give/sell”, leave it there, box it up and ship it out. The goal here is to reduce the amount of stuff in your home. Once it’s done you’ll be so happy you did.
