We know summer is almost over, but why not take on some projects to spruce up your home before fall rolls around (very quickly). Try some of these summer projects to keep your home fresh all year long.
Paint your home a new bright color. This will also add an extra protection from the sun and UV light. If you don’t want to paint your entire house, you can paint the front door a new color or give the molding surrounding your doors and windows a fresh white coat to brighten them up.
Seal your wood decks to protect them from the summer heat. If your deck is looking a little down you can seal, stain, or paint it to make it look and feel brand new. You can easily buy these supplies at a home supply store and it will be much cheaper than hiring a professional. You should do this every 2-3 years to prevent damage from occurring on your deck, that will cost thousands of dollars later on to replace or fix.
Make sure you clean out your gutters before the leaves of Fall start to fall. You want to keep your home safe and protected from potential rain damage from clogged gutters. Use a tall ladder and have someone stand at the bottom while you brush out the leaves and debris. Also, check for leaks while you are cleaning. If there are leaks or breaks fix them before fall comes. You should clean your gutters once or twice a year depending on how dirty they get.
Insulate your home or if your home is already insulated make sure everything is working properly. You should insulate any part of your home that is connected to the outside such as; the attic, basement, roof, and walls. Insulating your home will also save you a ton of money on the electricity bill. Insulation will keep your home warmer, so you can use the heater less.
Check your heating system to make sure it is working properly. You want to be prepared when the cold weather comes around. Turn it on to make sure it heats up your home and call a contractor if you run into issues.
Maintaing a home takes a lot of work, but is necessary so you can enjoy it for years to come. If you need help with cleaning the inside of your home before or after all these projects, call us to set up an appointment today!
